Pearl Valley Golf Course: The Pearl Valley Golf Course is another one of Jack Nicklaus’s signature-designed courses. This beautiful 18-hole golf course lies nestled in the centre of 212 hectares of prime Cape Winelands real estate, surrounded by the Simonsberg and Drakenstein Mountains and bordered by vineyards. Jack Nicklaus has stayed true to his design principles by working closely with nature, providing a golf course that fits in with the environment. Careful thought was given to the scenery and regional weather. The wind plays a large factor in the Cape region and this course is designed so that all par 3s and par 5s play in different directions, catering for all conditions in one round. The course is 7481 yards in total length, and boasts an ingenious drainage system that allows play to continue just minutes after a severe cloudburst. Visually, it is one of the most stunning golf courses in the country, with greens and fairways of strong color, contrasting bunkers lined with radiant white river sand, the backdrop of surrounding mountains on each hole and the Berg River water hazard running through the course. The fairways are unique in that they have been sown with ‘all season cool grass’ imported from the USA. With 17 hectors of running water, water hazards come into play on just about every hole.

In 2003, Jack Nicklaus and Gary Player were the first to play this magnificent course at the official opening and the course has received outstanding accolades ever since. The world’s 2nd second-oldest open championship – the South African Open – is scheduled at Pearl Valley Golf Estates for 2007 to 2009; the first time that one venue has this honor three consecutive years. Many big names, and five of the world’s top 20 players, attended the 2007 Pearl Valley event including Ernie Els, Tim Clark, Trevor Immelman, Angel Cabrera, Retief Goosen and Greg Norman. Golf Digest recently rated Pearl Valley Golf Estates the '5th Best Golf Course in South Africa,' and was awarded a '5 Star Golf Experience' accolade by Compleat Golfer.

Leopard Creek Golf Course: Situated amongst typical bushveld koppies (hills) on the southern border of the Kruger National Park, and the Crocodile River forming the divide, Leopard Creek presents a rare opportunity for an outstanding round of golf in a bushveld retreat. In 1995, Johann Rupert created Leopard Creek Country Club, a 360 hectare development, and with Gary Player designed a championship 18-hole golf course measuring 7358 yards, as its centre piece. They shared a vision of a golf course where friends could play and enjoy, yet which could also test the best of players. Lakes and small brooks have been diverted through the course to create scenic vistas and interesting golf strategies. The course has been carefully designed to ensure that all aspects are in perfect harmony with the environment.

The scenery provides an ideal backdrop for a magnificent course with an exciting array of uphill tee-shots, large desert-like bunkers, hidden “bogey men” and golfing hazards that take on a new dimension, being home to hippos and the creature for which the adjacent river is named – the crocodile. From the back tee position on the par 3 12th hole, the golfer has panoramic views of the course and the Kruger National Park.

This country club is well equipped with a sport and recreation complex, many recreational amenities including a sparkling freeform swimming pool and paddling area, located near the club house. There is also a gymnasium that is fully air-conditioned, with French windows at the side, overlooking the river and Kruger National Park. This offers the opportunity to work out and view game simultaneously.

The Lost City Golf Course: The Lost City Golf Course, platinum ranked # 18* is laid out in the natural, undulating bushveld environment, covers more than 100 hectares, and incorporates 28 000 square metres of water features. This desert-style, par 72 course golf course, measuring 7681 yards, has a more open feel than its more famous stablemate, the Gary Player Country Club, but it too will give your game a thorough examination. Sprawling sandy waste areas are to be found alongside many fairways, while large deep bunkers provide serious defences around the greens. Golfers are astounded by the breathtaking beauty of the Lost City Golf Course. The rich green fairways give a dramatic contrast to the bushveld backdrop and the barren waste bunkers. Most famous and dangerous of all Lost City’s hazards is its crocodile pit, which guards the front of the spectacular downhill par 3 13th. This water hazard is inhabited by live Nile crocodiles, some of them nearly three yards long. The unusual water hazard is just one of the features that make the Lost City Golf Course exciting and interesting to play. If your tee shot is short and right, then don’t even think about descending into the pit to recover your golf ball! In several places the layout brings you alongside the boundary fence of the Pilansberg National Park and playing the back nine is like going on a golf safari. It has often been noted the game is more exciting when played downhill and this is certainly the case here. In addition to the 13th, holes 11, 14, 15 and 16 are all played from elevated tees offering thrill, excitement and challenge to every golfer. Facilities include a driving range and a Golf Pro Shop.

Homeward Bound (B&B) Day 17, Saturday

The perfect end to this tour awaits this morning with a last round of golf at the course ranked #2 by Compleat Golfer , the Gary Player Golf Course before heading to Johannesburg.

The Gary Player Golf Course: This championship course is widely considered to be one of the best in South Africa and amongst the top 100 world-wide. Of the approximate 250 courses designed by Gary Player, this spectacular Sun City course is the only one officially carrying his name and is home to the prestigious “Million Dollar Challenge”, sponsored by Nedbank. The walking course features 18-holes with a par of 72 and is one of the world’s longest at over 7878 yards. A distinguishing feature of the course is its green’s complexes, with strategically placed bunkers, swales and mounds that protect the super slick clover shaped greens. With pristine perfect kikuyu fairways and excellent bent grass greens the course is kept in perfect condition all year. A feature hole? They are all good at the Gary Player Country Club, but for risk and reward the stand-out is the par 5 9th which features an island green. The intelligent design and multiple tees make it equally enjoyable for the learner and the expert. Both the 9th and 18th greens finish in front of the clubhouse. Many of the game's superstars have graced these verdant fairways. The Gary Player Country Club incorporates a Pro Shop, a health spa and gymnasium, two squash courts and a spinning studio.

Depart Sun City and return to Johannesburg by road via the Hartebeespoort Dam, a scenic drive of approximately 2-3 hours. Surrounded by the majesty of the Magaliesberg mountain range and fringed by small little towns, many quite exclusive, the dam was originally designed for irrigation which is currently its primary use. The dam wall is 149.5 metres long and is built across a gorge cutting through the Magaliesberg. Fed by the waters of the Crocodile and Magalies Rivers, it covers approximately 18.83 square kilometres with a surface area of 20 square kilometres.
