Busanga Plains, Kafue National Park
The Busanga Plains in the northern part of the Kafue National Park is one of the most untouched wilderness areas in Africa. It’s largely under water for the first five or six months of the year. The waters then give way to an extensive game-filled savannah, rich with lechwe, puku, wildebeest and plenty of lion. Built on a tree-island close to the center of the Busanga Plains, Chisa Busanga Camp has four Nests that are built over thirteen feet off the ground and shaded by Terminalia trees. You are treated to expansive views from your luxurious beds, private outdoor deck and indoor/outdoor shower. Wooden steps lead you to your haven in the trees, which is lined in canvas tenting and fitted with a modern en-suite bathroom and king size bed covered in soft linens. The Nests have become part of the magic that is woven into the Busanga Plains. Wake up to elephants walking through the mist that rises off the drying floodplains below; fall asleep knowing that you sleep a little closer to the stars.
