Bumi Hills Safari Lodge boasts one of Africa’s finest wilderness locations with an elevated position on a range of remote hills overlooking the vastness of Lake Kariba. Bumi is situated near the North Eastern border of the Matusadona National Park and is easily accessible by light aircraft and boat, allowing you to be swiftly transported into paradise without the stress of a long journey. The safari lodge has a total of ten suites, all with balconies and uninhibited views over Lake Kariba. The Baobab Villa, Bumi Hills’ 2-bedroomed private villa, complete with its own living room, bar and indoor and outdoor dining decks is ideal for families. Offering a personalized experience, the villa comes with the services of a private butler, safari guide and a dedicated safari vehicle. Taking center stage is the beautiful infinity pool that seems to blend endlessly into the lake horizon. The pool is surrounded by intimate wine and dining terraces on different levels. The lodge interiors have been beautifully finished in a fusion of contemporary western and African styles. The beautiful Matusadona National Park was proclaimed a non-hunting area in 1958 and as such is wonderfully rich in wildlife and vegetation. With a ready supply of regenerative grasses as a source of food and an abundance of water from the lake, buffalo, waterbuck, zebra, and impala have thrived. With this so have the predators, so you can expect incredible wildlife viewing opportunities. The lake itself is teeming with huge Nile crocodiles and the lake shored offers fantastic herds of elephants and the Big Five. Meanwhile, birdlife thrives here, so keep an eye out for the population of fish-eagles, amongst many others. With 1,250 miles of shoreline, Lake Kariba is the fourth largest man-made lake in the world and the second largest in Africa – so it’s a truly impressive place to explore, especially by boat.
At Bumi Hills Safari Lodge, aboard Lady Jacqueline to cruise the waters of Lake Kariba as you observe wildlife on a safari experience unlike any other. Choose from two unique experiences: a half-day cruise with a delightful lunch or extend your adventure with an overnight retreat. Lady Jacqueline can comfortably host up to eight guests. On the lower level, you’ll find two spacious queen-size bedrooms, each boasting their own en-suite bathroom. There are also two cozy bunk rooms equipped with fans – perfect for younger guests. Make the most of Lady Jacqueline’s on-board amenities such as a refreshing plunge pool and a comfortable air-conditioned main lounge cabin. For optimal animal viewing, head to the top deck – also ideal for sundowners, reading, and card games.
Activities include guided walking safaris, stargazing, boating, birding, catch-and-release fishing, day and night game drives searching for lions in particular, as well as engaging cultural visits to our nearby local community.
