The Birkenhead House was originally built in 1901 as a private residence and was later converted into a hotel. The hotel underwent a major refurbishment in 2005 and was transformed into the luxurious boutique hotel that it is today. The hotel is named after the HMS Birkenhead, a British ship that sank off the coast of South Africa in 1852, and is known for its maritime decor and nautical theme. Not forgetting, of course, Hermanus’ two best swimming beaches which are just a stone’s throw away. Eleven superbly appointed rooms offer the ultimate in seaside luxury and relaxation.
